International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians
Americas Region, Vice President George Chaffey

February 17, 2017

Hello Everyone >>>

Please join us on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 11:30am – 1pm for the International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians (IFFR) Alaska Section luncheon meeting at the Petroleum Club of Anchorage, which is located at 3301 C Street, Suite 120, Anchorage, AK 99503.  IFFR and the Alaska Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) will host two excellent speakers with the latest information on flight safety with commercial, military, and recreational drones sharing our Alaskan airspace.

After an excellent meal of either eggplant parmesan or meatloaf (your choice - please advise when you RSVP) I will introduce Buzz Rohlfing, the CEO of Media Production Associates - one of the major commercial drone operators in Alaska, to speak on aircraft accident prevention in the commercial UAV arena.  Within the same presentation, he will tag-team with Dan O'Barr, KL7DR, a well known amateur drone pilot and ham radio satellite operator from the Mat-Su, who will speak on recent FAA unmanned flight safety initiatives.  Both of these presenters will have state-of-the-art UAVs on scene for inspection and demonstration.  We will save the last 15 minutes up until 1 PM for questions and answers, plus both Buzz and Dan will stay after the meeting as long as our members are interested in drone demonstrations and discussions.

Once again, please RSVP to me via e-mail so that we can have a good meal count for the chef at the Petroleum Club.  I am presently in the desert working on an emergency communications network setup for a major exercise next month, so the best way to reach me will be via e-mail at
KL4E@ARRL.NET or you may call me at (775) 727-3729.  As I mentioned in a previous message, there are account problems with the ak-prepared.com server on Fort Richardson that are unlikely to get resolved, so please use my ARRL address from now on for digital communications with me.

Thanks, and hope to see you soon!
