Montana Mountains Fly-In

Twelve Flying Rotarians enjoyed the Montana Mountains from our base in Kalispell, Montana, the weekend of August 14-15-16, 2014.  Several unfortunate folks (mostly from the west coast) were stymied by unseasonable clouds in the mountains and smoke in the valleys, and were unable to make it into the Flathead Valley.  We missed them.

A generous barbeque dinner in a hangar at the Kalispell City Airport started off the weekend Thursday evening.  Friday saw us aboard one of the iconic Red Busses touring Glacier National Park.  Saturday was set aside for individual activities, including bicycling, bird watching, fishing, visiting the National Bison Range, cruising on Lake McDonald, and touring the Flathead area.  This was followed by our farewell dinner at a private home, arranged and prepared by Lynn Miller and her friend Carolyn.  This was Sumptuous, by any definition and with a capital “S”.  The house was high in the hills overlooking the area.  Some folks even chose to stay over another day to enjoy all the highlights of northwestern Montana.

We all look forward to another opportunity to enjoy the mountain regions of the west with our Flying Rotarian friends.
